Despite delays by Israelpost, our 5 crates of ceramics have arrived. And just in time for Christmas!

Leichhardt Friends of Hebron has just received a new shipment of handmade ceramics from Hebron in Palestine. Intricately detailed with flower and arabesque patterns, these make wonderful Christmas presents as all profits are directed to a very good cause – supporting preschool education in some of the most vulnerable communities in the Hebron region.

The ceramics will be on sale at Addison Road markets between 9am and 12 noon on Sunday 15th December.

Our ceramics have been produced in the Hebron Glass and Ceramics Factory, a family business run by Mr Hamdi Natsheh and his brother. The brothers started work in the factory more than 40 years ago when Mr Hamdi was just 17. Nowadays, his work is mostly administration, but he is still able to tell which one of his artists produced each piece just by looking at it.

Today, the factory employs four glass-blowers and 15 people in the ceramics area.  Leichhardt Friends of Hebron proud to be able support the ceramics industry in Hebron, helping keep traditional skills alive and providing work for people in a city with 50% unemployment.
